Gokapi Hosting

Open your pod URL with /setup at the end, as directed by PikaPods. Follow the setup screens, set the public URL to your pod’s HTTPS address and create your administrator login. Then sign in to upload your first file. See the initial setup guide.

No. PikaPods sets up and runs Gokapi for you, including OS and app updates and HTTPS. You won't touch Docker or a server. Your files and database stay accessible if you ever want to move them elsewhere.

Recipients use a download link in a web browser; they do not need an uploader account. Supply the file password separately if you enabled one. A file can become unavailable after its time or download limit is reached; see the Gokapi documentation.

Local storage and username/password authentication are available, so an external storage account or identity provider is optional. Choosing S3 storage or OpenID Connect adds the relevant provider account and configuration, and storage providers may charge separately. The setup guide explains these choices.

Set up incremental backups to S3 in your pod settings for automatic nightly snapshots, or download your files and database yourself. We keep whole-server backups for server failures, but they aren't a per-pod restore service, so your own backup is what protects your data.

You can use Gokapi instead of WeTransfer and Dropbox Transfer. PikaPods runs it for you, and you can move your files and database elsewhere.

Both send a file by download link, and recipients don't need an account. WeTransfer is a hosted service with limits set by plan. Gokapi lets you set expiry by time or number of downloads, keeps files on your pod and restricts who can upload. There are no recipient accounts or sync, so it stays simple.

No. You add prepaid credit and your pods are billed by the hour from that balance, rounded up to full hours. There are no contracts or minimum terms: delete a pod anytime and billing stops. Optional automatic top-ups keep your pods running without manual payments.

You do. And you're in full control. If you ever want to download, migrate, edit or delete your data, just enable file and database access for your pod and it will be right there.
