Journiv Hosting

1. Open your pod URL, choose Sign Up and create the initial account. This first account becomes the administrator.
2. Disable further signups after creating your user by setting DISABLE_SIGNUP=true in the instance configuration.
3. Select New Journal, give it a name and optional color, icon and description, then create your first entry.
4. Add text, media, tags and a mood, or choose a writing prompt. You can also import a supported Day One, Daylio or Journiv archive.

The getting-started guide covers journals, entries, moods, prompts and search. Signup control is documented in the configuration reference.

No. PikaPods sets up and runs Journiv for you, including OS and app updates and HTTPS. You won't touch Docker or a server. Your files and database stay accessible if you ever want to move them elsewhere.

Yes. Open your pod URL in a mobile browser and install Journiv as a progressive web app from Settings → Install & offline. On iOS, use Share → Add to Home Screen. Native iOS and Android apps were still listed as coming soon for this release.

Offline mode provides a bounded cache of previously loaded journals, timeline entries and opened entries for reading. It is not full offline editing: new entries and other changes require a connection, and media viewing is outside the offline cache. See the release's PWA contract for the exact limits.

Core journaling does not require a third-party account. Optional OIDC sign-in needs your own identity provider, and the optional Immich integration needs a reachable Immich instance and its credentials; any external service costs are separate.

The core features described here do not require Journiv Plus. The project separately sells an optional Plus license for additions such as tag analytics, public publishing and oEmbed previews.

Set up incremental backups to S3 in your pod settings for automatic nightly snapshots, or download your files and database yourself. We keep whole-server backups for server failures, but they aren't a per-pod restore service, so your own backup is what protects your data.

You can use Journiv instead of Day One and Journey. PikaPods runs it for you, and you can move your files and database elsewhere.

Both offer rich entries, media, prompts and looking back through memories. Day One is an established commercial journaling service with polished apps and paid tiers. Journiv can import a Day One export and keeps your journal on your pod. It's still in beta, so check that its current clients and offline behavior suit how you write.

Yes. The hosted release is 0.1.0-beta.26, and the project warns that breaking changes can still occur. Use the built-in export tools and keep regular backups rather than relying on backward compatibility alone.

No. You add prepaid credit and your pods are billed by the hour from that balance, rounded up to full hours. There are no contracts or minimum terms: delete a pod anytime and billing stops. Optional automatic top-ups keep your pods running without manual payments.

You do. And you're in full control. If you ever want to download, migrate, edit or delete your data, just enable file and database access for your pod and it will be right there.

Yes. Journiv is part of our Green Heart program, so part of the revenue from every deployed pod goes to the project.
