No. PikaPods sets up and runs Wallabag for you, including OS and app updates and HTTPS. You won't touch Docker or a server. Your files and database stay accessible if you ever want to move them elsewhere.

Some clients require a client ID and client secret from Wallabag's API Clients Management page as well as your account login. Offline reading means syncing content into a supporting app before you disconnect; it is not a guarantee that the browser interface works offline.

No wallabag.it account is needed: connect clients to your own pod instead. The Android app is free and open source. The iOS Wallabag Reader listing currently offers core reading for free with an optional Plus subscription for AI features; those purchases are separate from pod hosting.

Saving a paid publisher's article does not include a subscription to that publisher. Supported restricted-access sites need your own valid account and additional configuration. Other pages can fail to extract because of site restrictions or page structure.

Set up incremental backups to S3 in your pod settings for automatic nightly snapshots, or download your files and database yourself. We keep whole-server backups for server failures, but they aren't a per-pod restore service, so your own backup is what protects your data.

You can use Wallabag instead of Instapaper and Readwise Reader. PikaPods runs it for you, and you can move your files and database elsewhere.

Both turn articles into a clean reading view, with tags and offline phone reading. Instapaper is a hosted service. Wallabag stores your archive on your pod, and works with browser extensions and mobile apps pointed at your own address. It's separate from wallabag.it, the project's paid hosted service, so you don't need an account there.

No. You add prepaid credit and your pods are billed by the hour from that balance, rounded up to full hours. There are no contracts or minimum terms: delete a pod anytime and billing stops. Optional automatic top-ups keep your pods running without manual payments.

You do. And you're in full control. If you ever want to download, migrate, edit or delete your data, just enable file and database access for your pod and it will be right there.
