No. PikaPods sets up and runs FreshRSS for you, including OS and app updates and HTTPS. You won't touch Docker or a server. Your files and database stay accessible if you ever want to move them elsewhere.

Yes. FreshRSS supports compatible clients through the Google Reader and Fever APIs. Enable API access in the administration settings, set an API password in your profile and configure your client with your pod URL. The mobile access guide lists clients and endpoint details; client apps may have their own purchase price.

You do not need an account with another RSS service to read public feeds. A publisher’s subscription or login requirements still apply to its articles; FreshRSS does not unlock paywalled content. You can also read directly in the FreshRSS web interface without installing a separate app.

Set up incremental backups to S3 in your pod settings for automatic nightly snapshots, or download your files and database yourself. We keep whole-server backups for server failures, but they aren't a per-pod restore service, so your own backup is what protects your data.

You can use FreshRSS instead of Feedly and Inoreader. PikaPods runs it for you, and you can move your files and database elsewhere.

Yes. Export an OPML file from Feedly and import it under FreshRSS's subscription management. Your feeds and categories come across, but saved articles and read history generally don't. Phone and desktop readers can then connect through FreshRSS's compatible APIs, so you can keep a favorite app.

No. You add prepaid credit and your pods are billed by the hour from that balance, rounded up to full hours. There are no contracts or minimum terms: delete a pod anytime and billing stops. Optional automatic top-ups keep your pods running without manual payments.

You do. And you're in full control. If you ever want to download, migrate, edit or delete your data, just enable file and database access for your pod and it will be right there.
