If the setup wizard appears, use it to set the administrator email, public API address and SMTP settings; values already supplied through the pod configuration take precedence. Configure working SMTP for system and sign-in emails, then sign in with the administrator email and create your workspace. Follow the self-hosted setup guide rather than looking for a universal default password.

No. PikaPods sets up and runs Notifuse for you, including OS and app updates and HTTPS. You won't touch Docker or a server. Your files and database stay accessible if you ever want to move them elsewhere.

Yes, you need an email delivery service or SMTP server and its credentials; its usage charges are separate from pod hosting. Notifuse supports services including Amazon SES, Mailgun and Postmark. System emails also need SMTP configuration. The self-hosted software allows three workspaces without a licence key, while additional workspaces, granular permissions, SSO, template translations, SES tenant provisioning and audit-log recording require an appropriate paid licence. Use the web console in your browser to manage contacts, templates and campaigns. For application-generated messages, connect your own software to the transactional API using a workspace API key and a configured email provider. This is a campaign-management console, not an IMAP mailbox for a desktop email client.

Set up incremental backups to S3 in your pod settings for automatic nightly snapshots, or download your files and database yourself. We keep whole-server backups for server failures, but they aren't a per-pod restore service, so your own backup is what protects your data.

You can use Notifuse instead of Mailchimp and Customer.io. PikaPods runs it for you, and you can move your files and database elsewhere.

Notifuse handles the editor, contacts, campaigns and automation, and sends through a provider you configure, which bills you separately. It handles transactional messages in the same workspace, so it can suit teams that would otherwise run two tools.

No. You add prepaid credit and your pods are billed by the hour from that balance, rounded up to full hours. There are no contracts or minimum terms: delete a pod anytime and billing stops. Optional automatic top-ups keep your pods running without manual payments.

You do. And you're in full control. If you ever want to download, migrate, edit or delete your data, just enable file and database access for your pod and it will be right there.
